ScanCARE Pty Ltd has grown from a family owned surgical instrument repair company, established in 1987. It was formerly involved in the repair, modification and manufacture of surgical instruments, patient jigs and fixtures, and special purpose stainless steel equipment in the operating theatre environment.
Its stakeholders, with this specific background of experience, got to see “inside” the surgical instrument management process, quite literally. They often had to dissemble equipment in order to repair it, and saw its internal condition. This detailed observation of the way instruments work, and the way they can sometimes cease to work properly, is “invisible” to the health professionals that depend on these instruments in the course of daily work.
From this solid background of very close experience and observation of a specialist area, a drive to provide innovative solutions and excellent service saw the company develop into the area of the improvement of instrument use activity management.
