I would like to express my thanks to you and your team in regards to the ScanCARE system we have in place at North Queensland Day Surgical Centre.
We have had the system operational for approximately eight years, and prior to the introduction of this system all data collection was done manually, compared to now where bar code scanning is the predominant form of data collection.
This has proven to be a significant and incredibly efficient way to effectively collect large amounts of information without the necessity for our staff to be computer experts.
Our records are now broadly comprehensive and completely links the whole peri-operative event to each individual patient.
We now have peace of mind with the system’s traceability feature. Not only can we track our single instruments, but we can also keep our trays together as a set. Talking to colleagues at other facilities, no-one seems to have a comprehensive system in place that encompasses so much as does our system.
The introduction of ScanCARE® into our facility has enabled us to devote more time to the patient and furthermore supply management with complete documented business reports for all procedures performed. It has allowed staff to become more accountable as this program has provided us with integration and automation of data and eliminates duplication of workplace administration.
In conclusion we find this system to be a user friendly, centre specific program, enhancing accountability, giving us practical strategies to achieve clinical excellence and obtain an EA rating in our accreditation.
